Coral Beaches, near Culduie

Thursday morning light rain and little southerly breeze great for the midges dampness after the hot sun.
Just south of Applecross have taken this walk to two coral sand beaches. They are beautiful. The red sandstone rocks rounded by the waves. Small sandstone raised beach cliffs show how the rocks were compressed and folded. Some of the largest primrose plants I've ever seen flank the shore line hugging the raised beach cliffs. The flag iris leaves are just starting to show. Having lunch by the beach watching the receeding tide. Two small fishing boats out in the sound. A breeze getting up the Cuillins are clearing now. A great northern diver is busy feeding in the bay to the north.

Have a look at this walk:

Some interesting old houses at Coille Gillie made from sandstone one renovated and lived in. Only access by boat or quad.
